Web Site Security Assessment & Certification

by Dave Murphy
ISSN 1535-3613

Dave Murphy, ITrain founder Foundstone, Inc., a provider of online security assessments and vulnerability testing, announced today a real-time security seal for Web sites. Based on continuous, technical assessments, Foundstone's seal of approval affirms the certified site is undergoing recurring vulnerability testing and is proactively protecting data on the site from being inadvertently released.

FoundSecure is a certification seal granted to organizations with robust security policies that have been implemented and tested. To qualify for the FoundSecure seal, a site must undergo a series of security assessments that include Internet penetration testing, Web application review, war dialing, and policy analysis.

The FoundSecure certification satisfies elements of the audit requirements for HIPAA, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, a national standard to protect the privacy of personal health information.

Dave's Opinion

One of my acquaintances has worked for many years on the HIPAA and has briefed me on the wide-ranging effects this legislation will have toward online security.

Online security is a topic that's often given lip service by Web site administrators. Foundstone's new service puts a test to our words.
