Opera Software Releases Beta Versions of Browser for Windows & Linuxby Dave MurphyISSN 1535-3613
The browser's new "Hotclick" features enables double clicking and right-clicking of phrases that displays a pop-up menu of features, including search, encyclopedia lookup, and translation. Continuing with a long-standing tradition of tight integration with the most popular search engines, the new version of Opera makes searching the web a snap. The new Linux version includes a cookie management feature that lets a user examine cookies placed on his system in addition to authorizing or denying future cookies from that website and linked third-party sites. Opera will add this cookie cutter feature to the Windows version of the browser in the future. The preview versions of the program may be downloaded for free from Opera's website.
Dave's OpinionOpera is my first choice for a web browser. It's the fastest browser I've tested, and it runs well in very little RAM, a real boon when one of the memory chips in my laptop failed this past summer.I suggest you download either the most recent finished version or the new preview version and give Opera a test for yourself. I'll bet you never go back to Navigator or Internet Explorer.
