Iomega Thinks It's Peerlessby Dave MurphyISSN 1535-3613
The Peerless system, a standalone, peripheral drive that comes in 10 gigabyte and 20 gigabyte capacities exceeds the current capacity of both DVD-R & CD-R and DVD-RW & CD-RW disks. The two-piece system includes a disk roughly the size of a handheld computer or PDA, which slips into a vertical docking station. The drive will sell for about $250 while the disks will retail at $160 for 10 gigabytes and $200 for 20 gigabytes. Watch for discounts on bundles and other promotions. Here's a snippet from Iomega's rave:
A 20GB removable drive sounds pretty cool. I've been using Castlewood's Orb 2.2GB drives for a few years, but 2GB just isn't enough for me. I'm looking at 60GB portable hard drives that connect via USB and FireWire, but one drop and a hard drive is shot. A handful of Peerless drives wouldn't be bad, especially if they're practically unbreakable like the Zips, Jazes, and Orbs
