Windows NT for Embedded Systemsby Dave MurphyISSN 1535-3613
The new version of NT, which I wrote about a while ago, is targeted at specialized markets, such as manufacturing, networking equipment, and point-of-sale devices. Microsoft's latest Windows operating system is created for electronic devices such as network routers, switches, industrial machines, and other specialty equipment. Release of an NT version for embedded settings furthers the aim of the Redmond, Washington-based software giant to extend its Windows franchise into new markets. Are you using WinNT? How do you think it compares to Linux, the other embeddable OS. Leave your comments on the Message Center.
