Biologist Successfully Removes Internet Explorerby Dave MurphyISSN 1535-3613
The teeth come in the form of a simple program - called 98lite - that, as Brookes describes it, is a custom installer that is used to perform an initial installation of Windows 98, without Internet Explorer. 98lite breaks the tight integration between Windows 98 and Internet Explorer, enabling you to install the Windows 98 operating system, retaining most of the great Windows 98 core features, but without Internet Explorer. 98lite assists in the reinstallation of Windows 98, but without installing Internet Explorer (IE). For users who have already installed Windows 98 with IE, Brookes is working on an IE-Remover program, which is currently undergoing beta testing. For users who prefer to not use beta-version software, Brookes has posted a page to his website that details how to manually remove IE. Brookes claims that without IE Win98 runs faster. I don't doubt it. IE can be a resource pit. What do you think? Have you removed IE? Do you have any experience with Brookes' program? Leave your comments at my message center: http:///msg/
