Dave Murphy

Dave Murphy has taught thousands of students, novice-to-expert, to be more productive using personal computers. He has been certified by Novell, Inc. as a Certified NetWare Instructor and by WordPerfect Corporation as a WordPerfect Certified Resource. His training expertise includes WordPerfect, Paradox, dBASE, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro Pro, Windows, Novell NetWare, Linux, Microsoft Office, and over a hundred other popular software products.

He has authored 137 computer training manuals as well as 2,469 technical articles and white papers related to information technology and training. ITrain recently published Mr. Murphy's two-volume The Training Book, the handbook for trainers.

In addition to presenting college and business training programs, Mr. Murphy is a public speaker advocating business development programs within both the academic and commercial forums, and he writes for a number of national newspapers and magazines. His daily news articles have a global syndication. Mr. Murphy holds academic degrees from the Defense Language Institute, United States Air Force, The University of Maryland, and The Johns Hopkins University. He has completed his doctoral coursework at Kennedy-Western University and is currently awaiting publication of his dissertation; his area of specialization is the protection of intellectual property rights of information technology assets following technology transfer in the course of international trade.

Following a military career, Mr. Murphy is President of Damar Group, Ltd., headquartered in Elkridge, Maryland, a corporation presenting instructor-led & online training programs and publishing software learning guides. In 1997 he conceived and funded ITrain, the nonprofit professional society for information technology trainers. He now serves members hailing from 175 countries as the association's membership director. Mr. Murphy is a lead faculty of information systems and technologyat the University of Phoenix where he teaches both graduate and undergraduate studies.

Mr. Murphy is Past President of the Rotary Club of Columbia-Patuxent, Inc. (District 7620), Past Chairman of the Rotary Club of Columbia-Patuxent Charitable Trust, Past President of the Howard County Sexual Assault Center, Inc., and a graduate of Leadership Howard County, a leadership-development program for businesspeople. In addition to serving on multiple non-profit boards of directors, Mr. Murphy and his family are active in church and civic activities, including Worldwide Marriage Encounter. He is a private pilot and an officer in the Civil Air Patrol with ASEL and high performance ratings; his home airfield is Tipton Airport (KFME).

Mr. Murphy lives with his wife, Peggy, and their two daughters in Ellicott City, Maryland USA.
